If I’m doing nothing, I often struggle in making the leap to doing things, even things that I know would engage me.
Once I make that leap, though, the work becomes a lot easier—like taking the plunge into a cool swimming pool on a warm, comfortable summer day. Initially, the pool feels freezing, but a few minutes of treading water will make me quite comfortable.
On the other hand, if I’m stuck completing a task against my will, my mind easily wanders to much more engaging and interesting ideas that I’d give anything to be thinking about and working on.
