Above is one of the more powerful scenes from one of my favorite movies, Fargo.
A sleazy car salesman concocts a plan to have his wife kidnapped in order to extort money from her rich father. What ensues is a film of selfish and immoral characters painting a bleak picture of the human condition—except for the one ray of positivity: a genuine, truly likeable, seven-month pregnant police investigator who finds herself really quite saddened by what the world has come to.
“There’s more to life than a little money, you know?”
“Don’tcha know that?…and here you are…It’s a beautiful day.”
